Staffing Industry Leads with Job GrowthWritten on December 14, 2010
The American Staffing Association, whose members make up 85% of the U.S. staffing industry, has recently released a press release discussing the status of the job market.
While the economy and overall job market continue to suffer, the staffing industry has been a bright spot and has shown growth over the past year. The staffing industry has added 494,000 new jobs since October 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
ASA president and CEO Richard Wahlquist said about the growth, “The sustained increased in demand for temporary help over the past year clearly shows that the economy is moving in the right direction; just not fast enough.” From October to November of this year, staffing employment grew 1.3%.
According to the ASA Staffing Index, staffing employment is usually a positive indicator for the economy and general employment – particularly during a recession.
One of the great things about working in the staffing industry is the fulfillment that comes from knowing your job is to find jobs – the right jobs – for others. As a member of the ASA, Morton Consulting is doing everything we can to help the staffing industry continue to grow and lead the way out of the recession.
