Robert Wood Jr. – Found!Written on October 28, 2011
We are so excited by the news that Robert Wood, the 8 year-old autistic boy who went missing from North Anna Battlefield Park, has been FOUND alive today. It was the sixth day since he went missing, and the cold weather had made the situation dire.
This situation has had a hold on the entire Central Virginia area, and since his disappearance there has been an incredible outpouring of concern and support from the community. By reports today, over 6000 volunteers had contributed to the search for Robbie.
We are proud to have contributed in some way to the search effort. Today Corey and Alison took supplies to the search party – we delivered over 800 snacks and 800 (sorely needed!) latex gloves to the volunteers early this morning. We have all been following the situation closely, and felt whatever we could do to contribute would be well worth the effort.
Alison noted what an emotional and inspiring scene it was at the volunteer site. The degree of organization and the drive of the people there were simply amazing. In the midst of such a desperate situation, such strong bonds of community spirit and cooperation were what undoubtedly made the difference.
After the news broke that Robbie had been found alive Alison stated, “to say we’re relieved…is an understatement.” And that just about says it all, save for that we have scarcely been more proud to be members of the Greater Richmond community.
